Biography
Alexander Sergeyev received his PhD at the age of 30 years from the Institute for Problems in Mechanical Engineering, St.-Petersburg. At the age of 43 he received the highest scientific Degree (qualification exists in Russian science) in mechanics of solids from the same institute. Now he is a leading researcher of the Hydroelasticity laboratory of the Institute for Problems in Mechanical Engineering, St.-Petersburg. He had made an applied mathematical description for a chain-like model of a long flexible riser, created the model to study the train derailment process.
